Seminar on Science and Technology Development - 2016

Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Defence Services Commander-in-Chief, had guided Chief of Armed Forces Training to hold the Seminar on Science and Technical Development 2016 (SSTD-2016) with an aim of upgrading the ability of Ph.D candidates in developing their research works and dissertations, and presenting them at seminars and conferences successfully by the international level.

According to the guidance of the Commander-in-Chief, the SSTD-2016 was successfully held in postgraduate wing, the Defence Services Academy on 10th and 11th October, 2016. Lieutenant General Maung Maung Aye, the Chief of Armed Forces Training, the commandants, rectors and professors of the military academies and institutes, the professors from Russia and South Korea, Ph.D candidates and officers who are attending the postgraduate courses in Pyin Oo Lwin cantonment and final year cadets participated in the SSTD-2016.

10 October 2016, the First Day of the SSTD-2016

The first day of the seminar was started at 8 AM. The Chief of Armed Forces Training delivered a speech for the opening ceremony. The Chief of Armed Forces Training, the Deputy Chief of Armed Forces Training, the high-ranking officials and the invited professors and experts, local and abroad, toured the Exhibition of Science and Technology. The Chief of Armed Forces Training and party then took a commemorative group photo.

Professor Victor Suchkov from Russia then presented his research work as a special talk and the topic of his talk was "Application of ultra, short pulse systems of near radar location". On the first day, 11 papers from the field of Science and Information Technology (Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Mathematics and Computer Science) were discussed. The first-day seminar was ended by the advice of Professor Jong Sou Park from South Korea.

11 October 2016, the Second Day of the SSTD-2016

The second day of the seminar was also started at 8 AM. Firstly, Dr. Charlie Than, the president of the Committee of Engineering Education Accreditation in Myanmar, discussed the topic "Challenges of Engineering Education Accreditation in Myanmar". Again, 11 papers from the field of Engineering and Manufacturing Technology (Chemistry, Electronics, Electrical Power, Aerospace Engineering and Mechanical Engineering) were discussed. It was ended by the valuable advice of Professor Surgey A. Lupin from Russia.

The participants nominated for the Best Paper Award were offered by the Chief of Armed Forces Training at the ceremony. Awards for the Second-Best Paper and the Best Poster were also offered to participants by the commandants of military academies. The ceremony was concluded by the speech of the Chief of the Armed Forces Training.

The professors, local and abroad, were presented special gifts at the SSTD-2016 dinner party held at 6:30 PM by the lawn near the swimming pool. The dinner party successfully ended at 9:30 PM.
